A research-based professional development observation and coaching model (PDOCM) for quality assurance and successful implementation of educational best practices in application-oriented postgraduate education
The purpose of this paper is to link the research on implementation science with a demonstrated successful performance-based professional development observationandcoachingmodel (PDOCM) for increasing quality implementation of educational best practices in actual classrooms with incumbent teachers and in application-oriented postgraduate education. Implementation science and the common factors related to the successful use of educational best practices are explained. The PDOCM process is described in detail, so that this high-yield outcomes-based process can be employed and implemented with integrity in application-oriented postgraduate education programs as well as any other educational setting.
The PDOCM process is illustrated with an example of its use as a data-based system of quality assurance for establishing co-teaching as an instructional practice to promote inclusive education opportunities of students with and without disabilities.
