Working Session with the Regional English Language Office (RELO), Embassy of the United States, Hanoi.

In order to exchange ideas and promote cooperation opportunities in English language teaching, Hanoi Metropolitan University welcomed and held a working session with the delegation from the Regional English Language Office (RELO), Embassy of the United States, Hanoi.

On the morning of January 26, 2026, Hanoi Metropolitan University welcomed and held a working session with the delegation from the Regional English Language Office (RELO) of the U.S. Embassy. The meeting aimed to foster cooperation in English language teaching; support the training of teachers and pedagogy students; enhance professional development for English lecturers; and explore the possibility of providing English language experts to the University in the upcoming academic year.

Representing RELO was Mr. David George Fay, Director of the Regional English Language Office. On behalf of the University were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Văn Tuân, Vice President, along with heads of the Department of Science Management, the Faculty of Foreign Languages, and all lecturers from the English Language and English Pedagogy programs.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Văn Tuân, Vice President of Hanoi Metropolitan University, delivered a speech at the meeting.

In his remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Văn Tuân introduced the University’s history and development, emphasizing its desire to strengthen cooperation in English language education—particularly in supporting the training of English pedagogy students and enhancing professional development for English teaching staff. In line with the approved project to make English a second language in schools, the University expressed its expectation of receiving professional support, organizing in-depth academic activities, and potentially hosting English language experts in the next academic year to further improve training quality and international integration capacity.

On behalf of RELO, Mr. David George Fay highlighted the Office’s extensive database resources and long-standing experience in English language education. He expressed hope that within the next six months, both sides would continue discussions to further detail cooperation plans. From now until Fall 2027, experts are expected to collaborate with the University to develop learners’ listening and speaking skills, provide professional support, and address practical challenges faced by lecturers.
