Hanoi Metropolitan University Expands Cooperation with Daegu University (South Korea)
Overview of the working session.
The working session provided an opportunity for the two sides to share information about their respective training strengths and development orientations, while exploring potential areas for appropriate cooperation. According to the program, discussions focused on education, culture, online training, and research into the development and implementation of the ODA Project of the Korean Government. The two sides also aimed to gradually reach agreement on a coordination mechanism and move toward signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

Attending the program, the partner delegation included Prof. Lee Kun-Yong, President of Daegu Cyber University; Prof. Lee Seong-Hwa, President of the School of Public Administration, Daegu University; together with representatives from the VNU University of Science, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
Representing Hanoi Metropolitan University were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Tuan, Vice Rector; Dr. Dao Truong Thanh, Head of the Department of Academic Affairs and Student Affairs; and Dr. Dinh Thi Kim Thuong, Head of the Department of Science and Technology Management and Development Cooperation.

Speaking at the working session, Prof. Lee Seong-Hwa, President of the School of Public Administration, Daegu University, gave an overview of Daegu University (South Korea), highlighting its training strengths and development orientations. Prof. Lee Seong-Hwa stated that Daegu University is a large private university in South Korea, offering a wide range of academic disciplines, with Special Education being one of its prominent strengths. This is also an area that Daegu University considers to have significant potential for cooperation with Hanoi Metropolitan University in the coming period. In addition to Special Education, Daegu University also focuses on developing fields such as social welfare, land and real estate management, as well as various other disciplines aligned with society’s development needs. Prof. Lee Seong-Hwa expressed his hope that the two sides could strengthen exchanges, share experience, and gradually explore appropriate areas of cooperation based on each institution’s strengths.

At the program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Tuan, Vice Rector of Hanoi Metropolitan University, welcomed the delegation and gave an overview of the University’s development process, training scale, and orientations for expanding international cooperation. With Daegu University’s experience and strengths, Hanoi Metropolitan University hopes to receive professional support and share expertise in curriculum development, teaching methods, faculty development, as well as experience in organizing educational models for learners with special needs. This will provide a foundation for the two sides to gradually develop specific, practical, and in-depth cooperation programs.

In addition to Special Education, online training and E-learning were identified as notable areas of common interest between the two sides. Hanoi Metropolitan University is currently promoting the application of technology in education, developing digital learning resources, and expanding E-learning formats. Meanwhile, Daegu University has experience in implementing online education, particularly through the participation of Daegu Cyber University in the delegation. This provides favorable conditions for the two sides to explore cooperation in developing digital learning resources, organizing online training programs, sharing experience in E-learning system management, and developing technology-enhanced educational models suited to learners’ needs.
According to the working agenda, representatives of the two sides also discussed cooperation in education and culture; research, development, and implementation of the ODA Project of the Korean Government; and the roles, responsibilities, and coordination mechanisms of the parties involved. The discussions provided a basis for Hanoi Metropolitan University and Daegu University to continue studying and refining areas of cooperation, with a view to signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and gradually implementing specific programs aligned with the strengths of each institution.
At the conclusion of the program, representatives of the participating units exchanged commemorative gifts and took a group photo, marking the meeting in an open, friendly, and cooperative atmosphere. The working session not only contributed to strengthening connections between the two educational institutions but also opened up new avenues for cooperation in Special Education, online training, research, and academic exchange, in line with Hanoi Metropolitan University’s orientation toward expanding international cooperation.
