AI4EDU 2026 NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND GENERAL EDUCATION: ACTION AND TRANSFORMATION

Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly embedded in students’ learning activities. Therefore, the question is no longer simply whether students should have access to AI, but rather what schools should teach about AI, how teaching and assessment should be organized, and how AI use should be governed in order to develop students’ competencies without undermining independent thinking, academic integrity, and responsibility.

The AI4EDU 2026 Conference takes place at a time when AI education in Vietnam is transitioning from pilot initiatives to systematic implementation. On August 18, 2026, the Ministry of Education and Training issued Decision No. 2422/QĐ-BGDĐT on the Framework for Artificial Intelligence Education Content for General Education Students. The framework covers Grades 1 through 12 and consists of four content strands: human-centered thinking, AI ethics, AI techniques and applications, and AI system design.

On this foundation, AI education needs to focus on developing learners’ competencies rather than merely providing access to technology. Key competencies include the ability to identify problems, ask questions, verify results, understand data, recognize risks, collaborate with AI, and take responsibility for one’s own products and decisions. The overarching approach is human-centered: AI can provide support, but it cannot replace human responsibility.

With this spirit, the AI4EDU 2026 Conference focuses on three major areas of action: AI in teaching, AI in learning, and AI in educational management. These three thematic pillars form an interconnected ecosystem: educating students about AI creates new requirements for teachers’ competencies, while also raising requirements concerning data, safety, ethics, assessment, and school governance.

The morning plenary session will be chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Hong Cuong, Rector of Hanoi Metropolitan University; Major General, Dr. Chu Van Dung, Deputy Director of the People’s Police Academy; and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Thu Lam, Vice President and Secretary General of FISU Vietnam. The session will focus on trends in next-generation AI, AI education for students, AI-driven innovation in teaching and learning, and digital data in schools. The central panel discussion will be moderated by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Thuy, President of FISU Vietnam; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Science and Technology; and Prof. Dr. Le Anh Vinh, Director of the Institute for Education Strategy and Policy, Ministry of Education and Training.

In the afternoon, the Conference will feature two thematic sessions on AI in teaching and learning and AI in educational management. Presentations will explore AI education from content frameworks to practical implementation, computational thinking, chatbots for learning support, AI for educational equity, responsible AI governance, AI in quality management, digital competency development, and the protection of students’ personal data. The AI in Education Exhibition will provide an additional space for delegates to experience smart teaching and learning solutions, student products, and content related to AI ethics.

Following AI4EDU 2025, the Conference is co-hosted by Hanoi Metropolitan University, FISU Vietnam, VNU University of Engineering and Technology, and the People’s Police Academy. The Hanoi Department of Science and Technology and the Hanoi Department of Education and Training participate in organizing the event. The Conference is supported by the Hanoi People’s Committee and the Institute for Education Strategy and Policy under the Ministry of Education and Training. The participation of these stakeholders reflects an interdisciplinary spirit that connects policy, research, technology, and practical school contexts.

The value that AI4EDU 2026 seeks to promote is the formation of a shared understanding and a shared action agenda: integrating AI into general education on a scientific, humanistic, safe, and responsible foundation; placing learners’ development at the center of evaluation; regarding teachers’ competencies as a prerequisite; treating data governance and ethics as safeguards; and using multi-stakeholder cooperation as a driving force for broader implementation. In this process, students need to move from being consumers of answers to becoming individuals who know how to ask questions, verify information, create, and gradually develop AI-based solutions.
