Seminar “Supporting Without Pressure – Accompanying Children from Stress to Confidence Before Examinations” at Thang Long Primary, Secondary, and High School
Expert perspectives and parental “transformation”
The program was facilitated by experienced experts in the field of psychology and education:
- MSc. Đỗ Thị Trang – Director of the School Psychology Institute
- Mr. Phí Mạnh Đoàn – Head of Training Department, School Psychology Institute
- MSc. Vũ Thị Thanh Nga – Director of the Center for Educational Counseling and Inclusive Education Support, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Hanoi Metropolitan University

With an engaging, humorous yet insightful communication style, the experts unpacked the layers of pressure that students are currently facing. Statistics on stress levels and heartfelt, often hidden student confessions about exam pressure left the audience in silence. Many parents became emotional upon realizing that their excessive concern had unintentionally become a barrier, causing fear and anxiety in their children.
From grade pressure to understanding children’s inner world
Unlike traditional parent–teacher meetings, the seminar focused on listening and sharing the unspoken concerns of parents as their children prepare for important examinations.

Many parents were deeply moved as they reflected on their own parenting approaches. Questions such as: “How do we talk to our child when they shut the door and refuse communication?” and “How can we ease the pressure we have unintentionally placed on them?” created moments of reflection throughout the hall.

Each question posed to the experts represented a personal concern—long-standing emotional knots waiting to be understood and resolved. The hall transformed from a formal meeting space into a place of emotional connection and healing, where parents collectively sought ways to better understand their children’s inner world.

Tears and transformation
The hall fell silent when a parent stood up, her voice trembling after watching a documentary clip: “I saw myself in that story…” Another parent shared emotionally during the counseling session: “For so long, I believed that pushing my child to study was for their future. But only today did I realize I have been unintentionally placing overwhelming pressure on them.”
At this point, the program reached its most emotional moment. Parents gradually shifted from the role of “controllers” to “companions.” Experts provided practical, tailored psychological strategies that parents could immediately apply at home to help their children reduce stress and regain confidence.

Connection toward a “happy finish line”
After the seminar concluded, many parents stayed behind to express gratitude and shake hands with one another and the organizers.
Ms. Nguyễn Thanh Huyền, a parent of a Grade 9 student at Thang Long School, shared:
“I arrived feeling overwhelmed and stuck as my child is preparing for entrance exams, but after listening to the experts, I feel much lighter…”
The event was not merely a psychological counseling session, but a bridge of empathy and love—affirming the vision of Hanoi Metropolitan University and Thang Long Primary, Lower Secondary and High School in prioritizing mental well-being and building a humane, happy educational environment.
