Opening Ceremony for the 2026–2027 Academic Year: “Honor Our Roots – Open New Doors – Reach New Heights”

The Party Committee, University Board of Management, representatives of the University’s units, and representatives of more than 8,000 full-time undergraduate students participate in the flag-raising ceremony.

Attending the ceremony, on behalf of the partners and sponsors was Ms. Pham Thi Thu – Deputy Director of Agribank Cau Giay Branch. On behalf of the University were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Hong Cuong – Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Rector of the University; leaders of the University’s units; officials, lecturers, and specialists; parents; and representatives of more than 8,000 full-time undergraduate students from different cohorts.

Starting the New Academic Year in the Spirit of the National Education Sector

The Opening Ceremony was organized nationwide and broadcast live from Muong Khuong Ethnic Boarding High School (Muong Khuong Commune, Lao Cai Province).

At the beginning of the program, officials, lecturers, and students of Hanoi Metropolitan University watched the Opening Ceremony for the 2026–2027 Academic Year, which was organized nationwide in accordance with the plan of the Ministry of Education and Training and broadcast live from Muong Khuong Ethnic Boarding High School (Muong Khuong Commune, Lao Cai Province).

Speaking at the Opening Ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Hong Cuong – Rector of Hanoi Metropolitan University – extended his warm welcome to distinguished delegates, teachers, parents, and all students attending the Opening Ceremony for the 2026–2027 Academic Year, especially the new cohort of 2026 students.

Rector Do Hong Cuong emphasized that the 2026–2027 academic year is a foundational year for implementing the University’s Development Strategy for the 2025–2030 period. Under the message, “Honor Our Roots – Open New Doors – Reach New Heights,” the new academic year is built around three major orientations.

First, “Honor Our Roots” means maintaining firm political integrity, upholding the noble ethics of educators, preserving exemplary pedagogical traditions, and fostering a strong spirit of service to the Capital. Training quality must be the University’s honor; the progress and growth of learners must be a source of pride reflected in every lecture and every professional activity.

Second, “Open New Doors” means proactively embracing new knowledge, modern technologies, and advanced educational approaches; enhancing practical experiences and expanding comprehensive cooperation with government authorities, businesses, and domestic and international educational institutions. In particular, digital transformation and artificial intelligence (AI) must be effectively, intelligently, and responsibly integrated into teaching, learning, and university administration.

Third, “Reach New Heights” means continuously raising quality standards, developing an excellent academic workforce, promoting scientific research, innovation, and knowledge transfer. Every research project and every knowledge-based initiative should create practical value and directly contribute to the development of the Capital and the country, thereby affirming the reputation and standing of Hanoi Metropolitan University.

Honoring 36 Top-Performing Students – Beginning with Achievement and Aspiration

The Rector presents certificates of merit and honors students who achieved the highest admission results in their respective programs.

One of the highlights of the Opening Ceremony was the recognition and awarding of students who achieved the highest admission results in their respective programs in the 2026 full-time undergraduate admissions.

A total of 36 top-performing students representing different programs were honored by the University at the Opening Ceremony. This recognition acknowledges the outstanding efforts of the new students from the very beginning of their university journey.

Ms. Pham Thi Thu – Deputy Director of Agribank Cau Giay Branch – presents VND 30 million to the University’s Learner Support Fund.

On this occasion, Agribank Cau Giay Branch presented VND 30 million to the Learner Support Fund of Hanoi Metropolitan University. This activity further demonstrates the partner’s continued support for the University in areas including training support, human resource development, digital transformation, and support for officials, lecturers, and students.

Welcoming a New Generation of Students

Representing the new students, valedictorian Nguyen Thi Mai Chi from the Vietnamese Language and Literature Teacher Education program delivers remarks and presents flowers to the University.

Representatives of the new students shared their feelings on their first day entering university and expressed their determination to study and develop themselves throughout the new journey. Their remarks, words of gratitude, and bouquet presented to the University’s leadership were meaningful expressions of the bond between learners, their teachers, and their University.

The 2026–2027 academic year, a foundational year for implementing the University’s Development Strategy for the 2025–2030 period, has officially begun. A new journey has opened. And the story of Hanoi Metropolitan University continues to be written through knowledge, responsibility, dedication, and the aspiration to reach new heights.
