Meeting with Former Teachers of Hanoi Metropolitan University

On the afternoon of November 19, Hanoi Metropolitan University held a meeting with former teachers who had worked at the University over different periods on the occasion of the 43rd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers’ Day (November 20). Attending the meeting were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Party Secretary and Chairman of the University Council; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Hong Cuong, President of the University; Vice Presidents: Dr. Bui Quoc Hoan and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Tuan, along with a large number of staff and lecturers from various units.

In the atmosphere of celebrating Vietnamese Teachers’ Day on November 20, generations of staff and lecturers of Hanoi Metropolitan University together reviewed the revolutionary education tradition and the development journey of the University over more than 65 years. From its beginnings as a basic training institution with a single pedagogical specialization, upgraded to Hanoi Intermediate Pedagogical School, Hanoi Pedagogical College, and through the merger with Soc Son Multi-disciplinary Economic–Technical Intermediate School and Ha Tay Pedagogical College, to become today’s Hanoi Metropolitan University, the University has built a rich tradition and achieved remarkable development milestones.

Former teachers of Hanoi Metropolitan University through different periods

According to President Do Hong Cuong, Hanoi Metropolitan University currently has four campuses with nearly 500 staff members and lecturers, and nearly ten thousand full-time students, offering training at three levels: bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral. In response to the human resource needs of Hanoi and the whole country, the University has developed many application-oriented programs, expanded international cooperation programs, and continuously improved the quality of education and research. In particular, the human resources have been increasingly strengthened, with a growing number of staff and lecturers holding doctoral degrees. In the coming period, the University will focus on new construction and renovation of facilities at the main campus on Duong Quang Ham Street and Campus 4 in Thuong Tin. This is an important activity to effectively utilize facilities, improve training quality, and contribute to the goal of placing Hanoi Metropolitan University among the top 1,000 universities in Asia by 2030.

Looking back on more than half a century of development, all generations of staff and lecturers of Hanoi Metropolitan University take pride in their contributions to the cause of education and training of the Capital in particular and the country in general. Over the years, the scale and quality of training of the University have remained stable and exceeded targets; graduates working at various institutions have been highly appreciated. These achievements are largely due to the significant contributions of generations of teachers with their dedication, creativity, and tireless commitment.

On the occasion of the 43rd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers’ Day on November 20, on behalf of all staff, lecturers, and students of Hanoi Metropolitan University, President Do Hong Cuong expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the former teachers. At the same time, he expressed his hope that in the coming time, the former teachers would continue to care for, follow, and contribute their intellect together with the leadership, staff, and students of the University to build Hanoi Metropolitan University to become increasingly strong, on par with universities at national and regional levels.

The meeting took place in an emotional, warm, and sincere atmosphere, leaving many lasting impressions and feelings in the hearts of generations of staff and lecturers of Hanoi Metropolitan University. This was also one of the events in the series celebrating the 43rd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers’ Day on November 20.
