Functions
Thang Long High School, Middle School, and Primary School is a public educational institution within the national education system. The school has legal status, its own accounts, and seals.
Thang Long High School, Middle School, and Primary School is a professional agency helping the Hanoi People's Committee manage education at the local level according to government regulations. At the same time, the school is also under the professional management of the Education Department as per the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training regarding high school, middle school, and primary school organization.
Duties
Organize teaching, learning, and other educational activities according to the educational goals and programs for elementary and middle school levels issued by the Ministry of Education and Training. Publicly announce educational goals, content of activities, resources and finances, and evaluation results of education quality.
Manage staff, teachers, and employees as per legal regulations.
Conduct admissions and enrollment; encourage students to attend school; manage students according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.
Mobilize and manage resources for educational activities. Coordinate with students' families, organizations, and individuals in educational activities.
Organize activities for teachers, staff, and students to participate in other social activities.
Manage land, equipment, and finances as per legal regulations.
Publicly commit to the quality of education, quality assurance conditions, and annual financial income and expenditure of the school.
Carry out other duties according to legal regulations.
Development process
Thang Long Primary, Middle, and High School is a public school with financial autonomy established according to Decision No. 588/QĐ-UBND dated February 28, 2019, by the Chairman of Thuong Tin District People's Committee, Hanoi City. It is an experimental school located within the campus of Hanoi Pedagogical College (now part of Hanoi Metropolitan University).
In the 2019-2020 school year, the school enrolled 154 students, including 3 classes for elementary students (30 students each), and 2 classes for middle school students (32 students each). Mr. Bùi Quốc Hoàn was appointed as the principal, and 24 faculty members and 4 administrative staff participated.
In the 2020-2021 school year, the school enrolled 182 students, with 3 classes for elementary students (30 students each) and 2 classes for middle school students (30 students each), increasing the total student number to 336. The staff also increased to 36, with 28 teaching staff and 4 administrative staff.
In the 2021-2022 school year, the school enrolled 157 students, with 3 classes for elementary students (32-33 students each) and 2 classes for middle school students (30 students each). The total number of students reached 493, with 58 teaching staff.
In the 2022-2023 school year, the school enrolled 151 students, maintaining 3 classes for elementary students (30 students each) and 2 classes for middle school students (30 students each). The total student number reached 644, and 58 faculty members continued teaching. In this academic year, the school witnessed the graduation of 62 students in grade 9, ranking first in the district based on the average score of the entrance exam to high school.
In the 2023-2024 school year, the school enrolled 151 students, with 3 classes for elementary students (30 students each) and 2 classes for middle school students (30 students each). The total number of students is 755. Following Decision No. 497/QĐ-TTg issued by the Prime Minister on May 12, 2023, Hanoi Pedagogical College merged with Hanoi Metropolitan University. Thang Long Primary, Middle, and High School became the 4th campus of Hanoi Metropolitan University. Mr. Bùi Quốc Hoàn was appointed as the vice-rector of Hanoi Metropolitan University. The leadership of Thang Long Primary, Middle, and High School changed, with Ms. Phạm Thị Bích Ngọc assigned to oversee the school, and Ms. Nguyễn Thị Thu Hiền and Ms. Tạ Thị Hoài Thương appointed as vice-principals. The total number of teachers and staff is 37.

The school's staff is highly unified and committed to their work. Most teachers are passionate about their profession, highly skilled, and have good organizational discipline. The school has a good coordination with departments within the university, as well as the Department of Education and Training of Thuong Tin District and other schools in the area. 100% of the teachers hold university degrees, with many holding master's degrees. All staff members are capable of applying information technology to their work. The academic departments prioritize teaching, with quality education and student welfare as the top priorities.
Academic work
The school has successfully implemented reforms in teaching methods, focusing on developing students' competencies and qualities, with students at the center. It organizes various learning activities that help students actively acquire knowledge during lessons. The use of information technology and teaching aids has been strengthened, alongside the use of active teaching techniques that engage students.
At the beginning of each academic year, the school develops and implements integrated teaching plans that combine moral education, life skills training, education about heritage, club-based learning, and experiential activities. Additionally, the school has successfully reformed its student evaluation methods. The evaluation is flexible and employs various methods and forms, accurately assessing students' abilities and progress throughout the process.
Thanks to proper assessment, the school has effectively organized tutoring for gifted students and remedial support for weaker students, improving overall educational quality.
The school also organizes annual competitions such as Olympiads and skills assessments in subjects like Math, Literature, and English. Moreover, the school introduces students to local and international competitions such as Kangaroo, IKMC, HKIMO, etc., and has won several awards, including 2 gold medals, 3 silver medals, 11 bronze medals, and recognition awards.
Participation in district-level academic competitions organized by the Department of Education and Training has resulted in good achievements, with grade 9 students ranking second, grade 7 students ranking tenth, and grade 6 students ranking eleventh among over 30 middle schools in the district.
Notably, the school has had 3 students win city-level awards, including 2 second-place awards (in Literature and Biology) and 1 consolation prize (in Natural Science).
Student achievements in both academic and personal development are remarkable:
Elementary school: 152 excellent students, 86 exemplary students who completed their academic and developmental tasks well. 100% of students have good conduct.
Middle school: 38 excellent students, 73 good students. 97% of students have good conduct.
In the 2021-2022 academic year, the school proudly received the "Outstanding Unit in Emulation Movements" flag (Decision No. 3130/QĐ-UBND, August 30, 2022, by the Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee).
In the 2022-2023 academic year, 100% of grade 9 students graduated from middle school and passed the high school entrance exam with excellent results: one student was admitted to the gifted system, and the other students were accepted into the schools of their choice.
In this academic year, the school again received the "Outstanding Unit in Emulation Movements" flag (Decision No. 4524/QĐ-UBND, September 11, 2023, by the Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee).
Apart from professional development, Thang Long Primary, Middle, and High School also organizes sports competitions for students, such as football, badminton, basketball, and volleyball. These annual sporting events have a strong impact, boosting students' health while engaging enthusiastic support from parents. The sports competitions have become meaningful cultural events for teachers, staff, students, and parents.
