2. Functions and Tasks
Research, training, development, and consultancy for specialized fields in management, architecture, urban planning, transport management, industrial management, journalism, and communication.
Assign and manage the teaching of subjects taught by faculty members of the department for other training systems within the university; collaborate with educational institutions outside the university in the assigned fields for training and research.
The department performs tasks in accordance with the regulations of the Higher Education Law and the organizational rules and regulations of Hanoi Metropolitan University.
Department Overview
History of Formation:
The Department of Management and Urban Studies was established by Resolution No. 17/NQ-HDT on September 27, 2024, by the University Council of Hanoi Metropolitan University concerning the university's organizational structure.
Along with that, according to Decision No. 1657/QD-ĐHTĐHN dated October 1, 2024, by the Rector of Hanoi Metropolitan University, on the implementation of the organizational structure of the university's units and Notification No. 1687/TB-ĐHTĐHN dated October 15, 2024, on the assignment of managing training programs and shared subjects across university training programs, the Department of Management and Urban Studies was tasked with managing two undergraduate training programs: Public Administration and Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
The Logistics and Supply Chain Management program was approved for undergraduate training from the 2017-2018 academic year. The Public Administration program was approved for undergraduate training from the 2018-2019 academic year. Previously, these two programs were managed by the former Department of Economics and Urban Studies.
Team:
Building on the faculty from the former Department of Economics and Urban Studies and with the timely addition of new, high-quality human resources, the Department of Management and Urban Studies has assembled a promising team for teaching and scientific research. Currently, the department has 9 permanent staff, including 2 PhDs, 6 Master's holders (with 3 currently pursuing PhDs), and 1 bachelor's-degree staff member handling administrative tasks. Additionally, the department has adjunct and visiting lecturers with high qualifications and substantial experience.
Specifically:
The Public Administration program has 6 permanent lecturers, including 2 PhDs and 4 Master's holders (1 of whom is a PhD candidate), and other adjunct and visiting lecturers. The lecturers in this program are trained in public administration, public policy, and business administration.
The Logistics and Supply Chain Management program includes 1 program director with a PhD (part-time, currently working at another institution), 2 permanent lecturers with Master's degrees (both of whom are PhD candidates), and other adjunct and visiting lecturers. The lecturers in this program are trained in development economics, international economics, finance-banking, and international management.
The departmental office consists of 1 staff member with a bachelor's degree handling administrative duties.

Research the introduction of 2 Master's degree programs for Public Administration and Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
