Hanoi Metropolitan University’s 27/7 Tribute Journey in Quang Tri Province

On the occasion of the 79th War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day (July 27, 1947 – July 27, 2026), Hanoi Metropolitan University organized a series of gratitude activities in Quang Tri Province to express deep appreciation to heroic martyrs, wounded soldiers, veterans, and people who made contributions to the revolutionary cause. The program contributed to spreading the tradition of “When drinking water, remember its source” and “Gratitude and responsibility”, while affirming the University’s commitment to preserving historical traditions and serving the community.

On July 27, 2026, a delegation from Hanoi Metropolitan University organized a gratitude program to honor heroic martyrs, wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, veterans, and people who made contributions to the revolutionary cause in Quang Tri Province. As part of the program, the delegation offered flowers and incense at Truong Son National Martyrs Cemetery, Road 9 National Martyrs Cemetery, and the Special National Relic Site of Quang Tri Ancient Citadel.

The delegation included Dr. Tran Anh Tuan – Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of the University; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Hong Cuong – Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the University; Dr. Bui Quoc Hoan – Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of the University; representatives of the Trade Union Executive Committee and Youth Union; together with leaders of departments, faculties, institutes, and affiliated units of the University.

From the collective contribution of the University community

In celebration of the 79th War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day, the Trade Union of Hanoi Metropolitan University launched a fundraising campaign to support veterans, wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, and families with contributions to the revolutionary cause in Quang Tri Province. The campaign received active participation from university staff, lecturers, employees, students, pupils, parents, and partner organizations

After nearly two weeks of fundraising, a total amount of VND 130 million was collected. From this fund, Hanoi Metropolitan University allocated VND 100 million to support the construction of a Gratitude House for Mr. Le Thanh Can, a 4/4-class wounded soldier in Gio Binh Village, Gio Linh Commune, Quang Tri Province. In addition, the University contributed a total of VND 30 million to support the preservation and enhancement of three historical sites, including Truong Son National Martyrs Cemetery, Road 9 National Martyrs Cemetery, and the Special National Relic Site of Quang Tri Ancient Citadel, with VND 10 million allocated to each location. These contributions not only provide practical material support but also represent the affection, responsibility, and profound gratitude of Hanoi Metropolitan University’s collective toward generations who fought, devoted themselves, and sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.

Hanoi Metropolitan University presented VND 100 million to support the construction of a Gratitude House for Mr. Le Thanh Can’s family in Gio Linh Commune, Quang Tri Province.

One of the key activities of the program was the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a Gratitude House for Mr. Le Thanh Can, a 4/4-class wounded soldier in Gio Binh Village, Gio Linh Commune, Quang Tri Province. The activity was jointly organized by Hanoi Metropolitan University, the Standing Committee of the Quang Tri Provincial Youth Union, the Secretariat of the Vietnam Youth Federation in Quang Tri Province, and local authorities.

At the ceremony, representatives of the University, local authorities, and the family jointly performed the groundbreaking ceremony. The project is expected to help improve Mr. Le Thanh Can’s family’s living conditions and contribute to a more stable life.

Paying tribute at the “red addresses” of history

As part of the program, the delegation from Hanoi Metropolitan University offered flowers and incense at three historical sites: Truong Son National Martyrs Cemetery, Road 9 National Martyrs Cemetery, and the Special National Relic Site of Quang Tri Ancient Citadel.

In a solemn and respectful atmosphere, the delegation offered flowers and incense and observed a minute of silence to commemorate the great contributions of heroic martyrs who bravely fought and sacrificed their lives for national independence, freedom, and the happiness of the people.

Following the ceremony at the memorial monuments, members of the delegation visited individual graves to offer incense and express their deep gratitude to those who sacrificed their lives for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.

At each location, the University presented VND 10 million to contribute to tribute activities, preservation, and care for the memorial sites. In the solemn atmosphere, members of the delegation expressed their profound respect and gratitude toward heroic martyrs who sacrificed for national independence, freedom, and reunification.

The incense-offering activities at these historical sites were not only commemorative rituals but also meaningful opportunities for each member of the delegation to reflect on the immense sacrifices of previous generations, thereby appreciating the values of peace, independence, and today’s life. This was also a practical and profound form of traditional education, helping staff, lecturers, and students nurture patriotism, national pride, community responsibility, and determination to continue promoting revolutionary values through study, work, and dedication.

For Hanoi Metropolitan University, the gratitude program in Quang Tri was not merely a commemorative activity but also a continuation of enduring humanitarian values, responsibility, and compassion. The incense offered at cemeteries and historical sites, the donated funds, and the construction of the Gratitude House were concrete actions contributing to spreading the message of gratitude, sharing, and responsibility toward the community.
