On the morning of December 20, Hanoi Metropolitan University organized the 3rd Scientific Conference for doctoral candidates (PhD candidates) and master’s students. Attending the Conference were the University’s Vice Rectors: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Văn Tuân and Dr. Bùi Quốc Hoàn, leaders of various units, staff members, lecturers, along with doctoral candidates, master’s students, and students of the University.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Văn Tuân, Vice Rector of the University, delivered the opening remarks.

In his opening speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Văn Tuân, Vice Rector of Hanoi Metropolitan University, emphasized the role and significance of organizing the Conference. Accordingly, as higher education is undergoing a “strong transformation,” scientific research is regarded as the “core foundation” for educational institutions to affirm their position, enhance quality, and promote innovation. From the learners’ perspective, scientific research is not only an academic requirement but also an opportunity to cultivate critical thinking, strengthen professional competence, and nurture a spirit of intellectual exploration.

The Conference serves as an academic forum where doctoral candidates, master’s students, and students can “present research findings, engage in academic exchange, share methodologies, and expand connections,” thereby inspiring new scientific ideas, promoting research activities throughout the University, and encouraging learners to contribute to the University’s development orientation toward becoming a high-quality research–training institution.

The Organizing Committee received numerous submissions for the Conference. The reports were highly practical, closely aligned with digital transformation and educational innovation. Many papers demonstrated diversity in approaches and areas of interest, ranging from educational management and the organization of learning activities to technology applications. Notable topics included: developing academic advising competencies to support students’ autonomous learning; applying AI to develop interactive videos for fire escape skills education for primary school students; the role of backward design in foreign language education management; proposing procedures for building digital learning resource repositories in Grade 8 History teaching; and microlearning in innovating teacher training methods, connecting international practices with implementation orientations at the University’s Faculty of Education.

In addition, the Conference provided space for presentations related to management and human resource development, such as solutions for developing high school teaching staff in the current context; applying information technology in managing the quality of English teaching and learning; managing life skills education; organizing STEM education; managing education on school violence prevention and control; and managing the application of information technology in teaching within the context of digital transformation.

After a period of serious and scientific work, with diverse presentations and active participation from doctoral candidates, master’s students, and students, the Conference concluded successfully, reaffirming Hanoi Metropolitan University’s efforts to establish a rigorous academic environment, encourage learners to “cultivate critical thinking and enhance professional competence,” and gradually build strong scientific research capabilities.
