TTTĐ - The 2025 Dialogue, Counseling, Enrollment, and Career Orientation Program organized by Tuổi trẻ Thủ đô newspaper recently took place at Nguyễn Quốc Trinh High School (Thanh Trì, Hanoi). This was not just a simple enrollment counseling session, but also a valuable event, rich in information about career and industry orientation for students, especially the first batch of students in the new general education program.
The university proactively innovates.
At the beginning of the dialogue session, a representative from the Tuổi trẻ Thủ đô newspaper emphasized the role of media in connecting students with higher education institutions, helping them access official information, while also equipping them with decision-making skills in an ever-changing learning and career environment.
During the program, thousands of 11th and 12th-grade students had the opportunity to interact directly with representatives from various universities, receiving detailed answers regarding admission methods, entrance scores, scholarship opportunities, and career orientation in the context of digital transformation and globalization.

Experts answered students' questions regarding career orientation and university admissions for 2025. |
Trần Trường Giang, a 12th-grade student from Đông Mỹ High School, shared: “As the first batch of students taking the new general education program, I realize that the Dialogue, Counseling, and Career Orientation Event for 2025 has helped me gain a clearer understanding of my personal choices. This event has given me the best guidance on selecting a career. There were many universities providing direct counseling, saving me from having to search through social media. This year, I’m interested in Hanoi Metropolitan University, and I spent a long time at their booth to thoroughly learn about their admission process, scholarship opportunities, and future career prospects.
Through this program, I gained a better understanding of the differences between various fields and learned about new careers that are in demand in the job market. The Dialogue, Counseling, Admissions, and Career Orientation event has provided me with a clearer perspective on my choices and motivated me to achieve my goals and dreams.”

This year's program holds special significance as the current 12th-grade students are the first generation to complete the new general education program (CTGDPT 2018). This raises concerns about the admission methods, selection combinations, graduation standards, and the changes in evaluating students' abilities.
Trương Bảo Ngọc (a 12D8 student at Hoàng Văn Thụ High School, Hoàng Mai) shared: "By participating in the program, I have been guided by teachers and experts, which helped me better understand my interests and abilities. In addition, I was able to have my questions answered about the upcoming exam. I feel more at ease now that I have clearer guidance for my future career."

Students receive counseling at the booths of many universities. |
During the direct dialogue session, many students raised practical questions: "Will high school transcripts still be valuable for admission?", "How can we choose the right major that aligns with our strengths?", "Will universities adjust their programs to align with the new learning methods for students?"
These questions reflect the proactive and genuine concern of the new generation of students – those who have been introduced to integrated learning methods and competency development, rather than rote memorization. This also serves as motivation for universities to adjust their curricula, graduation standards, and assessment methods to avoid creating a “gap” between high school and university education.
Flexible Admission Methods
At the event, representatives from Hanoi Metropolitan University gave passionate presentations, which received special attention from students and parents. As one of the leading universities in innovating education linked to real-world applications, Hanoi Metropolitan University is gradually adjusting its admission methods to better align with the learning model focused on developing students' competencies and qualities as outlined in the new curriculum.

In 2025, Hanoi Metropolitan University will introduce two new programs: Environmental Engineering Technology and Economic Management. |
Answering questions about new programs at the event, Dr. Đào Trường Thành, Director of the Department of Training Management and Student Affairs at Hanoi Metropolitan University, said: "With the two new programs, Environmental Engineering Technology and Economic Management, Hanoi Metropolitan University is helping to expand career opportunities and job positions for students. In addition, this year the university also offers two new programs in the pedagogy field: English Teaching and Informatics Teaching, with 50 spots for each program."
Notably, in 2025, the university will apply various admission methods such as: selection based on the results of the high school graduation exam; selection based on the 12th-grade academic results in relevant subject groups; selection combined with international language certificates; direct admission and priority admission according to regulations from the Ministry of Education and Training; and selection based on the results of the Hanoi University of Education's competency assessment exam.
A noteworthy new feature is the flexibility in admission subject combinations. The university will not adhere strictly to traditional subject groups (A, B, D...) but will instead expand to include specialized competence groups of students, which is particularly suited to the differentiated and elective subject choice approach in the 2018 general education curriculum.
