Conference on strengthening cooperation with universities of the Russian Federation.

The meeting was a meaningful external relations activity, contributing significantly to the promotion of international cooperation in education, scientific research, faculty and student exchange, as well as academic and cultural engagement among all parties.

On the afternoon of March 9, 2026, Hanoi Metropolitan University hosted and promoted cooperation with a delegation of experts from several universities of the Russian Federation. More than a diplomatic exchange, the program focused on specific collaboration goals, including faculty and student exchange, scientific research cooperation, and expanded academic and cultural engagement.

Representing the Russian Federation were delegates from six higher education institutions: N.A. Dobrolyubov State Linguistics University of Nizhny Novgorod, G.V. Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, Moscow State University of Technology “Stankin,” Tula State University, Tomsk State University, and Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. The delegation included nine representatives. On behalf of Hanoi Metropolitan University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Văn Tuân, Vice President, attended alongside leaders of relevant departments and 40 student representatives from various academic disciplines.

In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Văn Tuân emphasized the University’s desire to strengthen cooperation with Russian universities across multiple areas. Key priorities included faculty development through training, professional exchange, and academic advancement opportunities in Russia; expanding international learning and exchange opportunities for students; and fostering collaborative international conferences and scientific research activities. In addition to academic and research cooperation, the University also viewed this partnership as an opportunity to strengthen cultural exchange and mutual understanding.

Ms. Popova Ksenia Alekseevna, Deputy Director of the International Student Center, Office of International Cooperation, Moscow State University of Technology “Stankin,” delivered remarks at the conference.

During the conference, representatives from Russian universities introduced their institutions’ histories, strategic directions, academic strengths, and research capabilities. These institutions represented diverse regions of the Russian Federation and offered multidisciplinary strengths in linguistics, economics, engineering, technology, fundamental sciences, and applied research. Through these presentations, participants gained deeper insights into academic programs, research environments, and international cooperation opportunities for both faculty and students, laying an important foundation for future collaboration.

Students of Hanoi Metropolitan University also had the opportunity to engage directly with representatives from Russian universities. Through these interactions, students learned more about academic life, research environments, and educational opportunities in Russia, while gaining valuable information on exchange programs and international academic collaboration. This experience helped broaden their perspectives, clarify academic goals, strengthen language and intercultural competencies, and encourage proactive personal development.

The meeting with the delegation from Russian universities demonstrated Hanoi Metropolitan University’s commitment to improving educational quality, expanding international partnerships, and affirming its role in the global higher education integration process. Building on these initial discussions, all parties expressed hope for future effective cooperation programs that will contribute positively to education, scientific research, and cultural exchange between Vietnam and the Russian Federation.
