Support and guidance for students in conducting scientific research

On the afternoon of June 6, Hanoi Metropolitan University held a scientific seminar titled "Supporting and Guiding Students in Scientific Research."
Attending the seminar were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Văn Biên – Director of the Center for Research & Development in Pedagogical Practice (Hanoi National University of Education); Dr. Nguyễn Thị Hương Quỳnh – Department of Science, Technology & Environment (Ministry of Education and Training); Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Anh Tuấn – Chairman of the University Council of Hanoi Metropolitan University; leaders of several departments, along with students from across the university. Speaking at the seminar, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Anh Tuấn emphasized that science and technology are fields that receive special attention from the Party and State. The 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam clearly stated: “Promote national digital transformation, develop the digital economy based on science - technology and innovation.” He asserted that universities and educational institutions are the driving forces behind these efforts, serving as the cradle for knowledge development and innovation. Therefore, higher education institutions must be closely linked with science and technology. University education must align with and lay the groundwork for innovation in order to meet the growing demand for high-quality human resources in the process of industrialization and modernization of the country.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Anh Tuấn, Chairman of the University Council
According to Chairman Nguyễn Anh Tuấn, student scientific research is currently one of the most effective learning methods. During the research process, students can approach both theoretical and practical knowledge through various information channels: classroom lectures, studying documents, books, newspapers on the internet, or real-life products. This process helps students develop scientific learning methods and stimulates their creativity. Scientific research activities at Hanoi Metropolitan University always create opportunities for students to interact with organizations and individuals experienced in scientific research, guiding promising research topics. This contributes to solving the university’s research problems and offers students chances to participate in other scientific research activities at national and city levels. This requires collaboration between the university, business partners, and the students themselves.
The scientific seminar “Supporting and Guiding Students in Scientific Research at Hanoi Metropolitan University in the Context of Integration” was organized to share, discuss, and answer questions from students and supervising lecturers regarding research methods and presentation techniques for topics participating in the Final Round of the University-level Student Scientific Research Award 2023–2024, as well as other student scientific research competitions. The Preliminary Round evaluated 39 research topics, selecting 23 Consolation Prizes, 6 Third Prizes, and 6 excellent topics for the Final Round. The seminar provided an opportunity to enhance ideas, improve skills in implementing and guiding projects, and complete research proposals with the best results, contributing to the development of the university’s student scientific research activities.
