Seminar and Award Ceremony of the Contest “Short Videos about Hanoi Pho”

On the Occasion of the 71st Anniversary of the Capital’s Liberation (October 10, 1954 – October 10, 2025), the Institute of Hanoi Studies and International Training – Hanoi Metropolitan University, in collaboration with the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, organized a short video contest exploring the traditional dish – Hanoi Pho.
The subject Hanoi Studies not only helps students gain a deeper understanding of the history, culture, and people of the Capital but also fosters their love and pride for this thousand-year-old city of heritage.
More than 2,000 first-year students enrolled in the Hanoi Studies course enthusiastically participated in the contest. After the preliminary round, 90 outstanding clips were selected for the finals, and 10 exceptional works were submitted to the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports for the official award consideration.
This morning, at Tasco Mall Commercial Center (Long Biên Ward, Hanoi), the seminar “Pho – A Story of Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Flow of Creative Industries” and the award ceremony took place in a lively atmosphere. The event attracted more than 300 students from various universities and colleges in Hanoi, including Hanoi Metropolitan University, VNU University of Social Sciences and Humanities, University of Culture, Open University, Dong A University of Technology, Phenikaa University, Hoa Binh University, and Hanoi College of Tourism, along with many experts, artisans, and cultural managers.

Hanoi Metropolitan University proudly achieved three prizes, including one Second Prize, one Third Prize, and one Consolation Prize. Notably, the Institute of Hanoi Studies and International Training had three out of ten finalist entries, winning one Second Prize and one Third Prize. Speaking at the seminar, Dr. Lê Thị Thu Hương – Director of the Institute of Hanoi Studies and International Training – emphasized that in order to preserve and sustainably promote national intangible cultural heritage such as Hanoi Pho, it is essential to integrate Hanoi’s culinary culture into education. This approach helps students not only learn about but also love and take pride in their cultural identity—thereby continuing to spread the values of heritage within today’s creative and globally integrated context.
