The seminar aimed to analyze trends in the development of smart logistics, the role of digital technology in optimizing supply chains, and policy orientations for sector development in the context of digital transformation.

On December 16, 2025, the Faculty of Management and Urban Studies of Hanoi Metropolitan University organized the seminar entitled “Smart Logistics in the Digital Era.” The scientific seminar “Smart Logistics in the Digital Era” was held to create a large-scale academic forum where experts could share research findings, practical experiences, and solutions for developing smart logistics in Vietnam; at the same time, it aimed to orient strategies for training high-quality human resources to meet labor market demands in the current period of rapid digital transformation.

The seminar was attended by representatives of management agencies, logistics enterprises, experts, and scientists in the field of digital transformation. From the University, participants included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Tuan, Vice President of Hanoi Metropolitan University; Dr. Tran Quoc Viet, Dean of the Faculty of Management and Urban Studies; along with lecturers and students of the Logistics and Supply Chain Management major.

In his opening speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Tuan emphasized the inevitability of digital transformation in logistics—a sector increasingly playing a decisive role in national competitiveness. In the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution profoundly impacting all socio-economic fields, logistics has become a strategic service industry, serving as the “lifeline” of the economy. The development of technologies such as IoT, AI, Big Data, Blockchain, and cloud computing has been driving a strong shift toward the Smart Logistics model—an ecosystem operating based on data, automation, and high connectivity. The seminar provided an opportunity for the University, experts, and enterprises to exchange advanced trends and operational models, while also orienting the development of training programs aligned with the practical requirements of the labor market in the digital era.

In his keynote report, Dr. Tran Quoc Viet systematized the theoretical foundations of smart logistics and analyzed the drivers of digital transformation in the sector, from operational optimization and supply chain transparency enhancement to creating competitive advantages for enterprises and the nation. The report emphasized the importance of digital platforms, data ecosystems, and the integration of traditional management models with advanced technologies to form modern, flexible, and sustainable supply chains.

Mr. Nguyen Hai Long, Product Director of AHT Tech Joint Stock Company, presented the report “Application of Artificial Intelligence in Logistics Enterprises in Vietnam.”

M.A. Ha Thi Thu Hang, lecturer of the Faculty of Management and Urban Studies, presented the report “Improving the Policy Framework to Facilitate the Development of Smart Logistics in the Process of Building Vietnam’s Digital Economy.”

The reports presented at the seminar provided a comprehensive overview of the transformation of the logistics industry in the digital era, focusing on the role of technology in optimizing supply chains and enhancing enterprise competitiveness. Speakers agreed that the development of IoT, AI, Big Data, Blockchain, and RFID is creating a smart logistics ecosystem in which data becomes the core foundation for all management and operational decisions. In addition to analyzing the characteristics and advantages of smart logistics, the reports also clarified the need to improve policy frameworks to support enterprises in digital transformation, while identifying the challenges faced by Vietnam’s logistics sector, from technical infrastructure and human resources to regulatory mechanisms.

Several presentations highlighted technological application models in demand forecasting, transport optimization, cargo monitoring at seaports, and smart warehouse management, demonstrating the feasibility of technological solutions in Vietnamese enterprises. Other studies focused on human resource development, addressing the digital competencies that logistics students need to meet modern professional requirements, particularly data-driven thinking, digital system operation skills, and adaptability in smart logistics environments.

The outcomes of the discussions serve as an important foundation for Hanoi Metropolitan University to continue refining its training strategy, developing high-quality logistics human resources, and promoting scientific research associated with digital transformation to meet new economic demands in the digital era.
