To celebrate the 134th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s birth (May 19, 1890 – May 19, 2024), the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of Hanoi, the 10th anniversary of the founding of Hanoi Metropolitan University, and the 65th anniversary of the University’s tradition, Hanoi Metropolitan University organized the art performance festival “May Flowers.” The festival attracted enthusiastic participation from 12 teams of union members representing 23 units across the entire university.
Attending the festival were Dr. Đỗ Hồng Cường, Secretary of the Party Committee and Rector of the University; Associate Professor Dr. Nguyễn Anh Tuấn, Chairman of the University Council; Vice Rectors: Associate Professor Dr. Nguyễn Văn Tuân and Dr. Bùi Quốc Hoàn; Master Nguyễn Thị Thúy, Vice Chairman of the University Council; and Master Hoàng Thị Thu Phương, Chief of Office and Chairwoman of the University’s Trade Union.

Dr. Đỗ Hồng Cường, Secretary of the Party Committee and Rector of the University, delivered the opening speech at the “May Flowers” Art Festival.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Đỗ Hồng Cường shared that following directives from the Hanoi Party Committee, the Hanoi People’s Committee, the Party Committee of the city’s bloc, and the Hanoi Federation of Labor, Hanoi Metropolitan University has focused on leading and directing the study and implementation of President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example as a continuous and regular practice. This has been closely linked with the effort to successfully fulfill the tasks of every individual and unit within the entire Party organization. Moreover, the university has shifted strongly from merely “Studying” to “Following Uncle Ho,” achieving positive results.
The university is now entering its 10th academic year in its role as a higher education institution with many notable achievements, from stabilizing organizational operations to planning development strategies. The quality of admissions and training has been increasingly affirmed. Fifteen training programs have been nationally accredited, and many more are expected to undergo external evaluation for quality accreditation. Many students graduate with honors and excellence, are admitted to the Communist Party, and there are no students ranked as weak or poor in conduct.
Numerous students have won awards in startup innovation competitions. Additionally, the campus facilities have been progressively improved and modernized. The university has renovated teaching buildings at campuses 1 and 3, purchased new furniture and equipment, and implemented university management software to better adapt to Industry 4.0 management requirements. The outstanding achievements of the past academic year result from the combined strength of many different forces.
On the occasion of the 134th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s birth, everyone working in education feels honored and proud but also deeply aware of greater responsibility to meet the increasing demands of the capital and the country in this new era.
The “May Flowers” Art Festival is a meaningful and practical activity expressing infinite gratitude to Uncle Ho – the national hero and world cultural celebrity – who dedicated his life to the independence and freedom of the nation, bringing prosperity and happiness to the Vietnamese people.
At this event, Secretary of the Party Committee Dr. Đỗ Hồng Cường called on all faculty and staff of the university to live, work, study, and follow the moral example of Uncle Ho; to build on the achievements gained; to seize opportunities, overcome difficulties and challenges; to strengthen unity and solidarity; and to strive hard to fulfill assigned tasks in the best way possible, contributing even more to the beloved Hanoi Metropolitan University.
The “May Flowers” Art Festival, commemorating the 134th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh at Hanoi Metropolitan University, featured 12 performances from 23 units across the university. These included songs about Uncle Ho’s journey to find the path to save the nation, proud and joyful melodies celebrating the homeland and the country’s renewal—all conveyed vividly and emotionally. Notably, the performances by the university’s Party Committee members left a deep impression and encouraged union members’ participation throughout the university.
