Introduction of Primary education Major

The Primary Education program is one of the first training programs of the University, with a long-standing tradition dating back to the founding of the University on January 6, 1959. The faculty and staff possess good moral qualities, solid professional qualifications, and enthusiasm in their work. Generations of students from the program have been successful, becoming outstanding teachers and skilled education managers. The Primary Education program has made significant contributions to the educational development of the University, Hanoi, and the entire country.

Introduction to the Primary Education Program – Hanoi Metropolitan University

In the context of fundamental and comprehensive reforms in education and training, the demand for primary school teachers with solid professional qualifications, creativity, and passion for the profession has become increasingly urgent. To meet this need, the Primary Education program – one of the long-standing traditional programs of Hanoi Metropolitan University – has established its reputation as a prestigious institution for training primary school teachers for Hanoi and the entire country.

The program originated from the Department of Primary Education at Hanoi Teacher’s College and is now part of the Faculty of Education at Hanoi Metropolitan University. The Faculty is led by Dr. Tran Thi Ha Giang as the Dean, with Associate Deans Dr. Ngo Thi Kim Hoan, Dr. Le Thi Thom, and Master Ha Thi Cam Nhung. The Primary Education program is managed by Dr. Pham Viet Quynh as the Director, with Associate Directors Dr. Vu Thi Thuong, Master Trinh Thi Hiep, and Master Do Thi Ngoc Quynh. The faculty members of the program are highly experienced, many of whom are experts in primary education research and teaching, consistently supporting and guiding students throughout their learning and training process.

For many decades, the Primary Education program has trained tens of thousands of students. Many generations of alumni have grown up to become outstanding primary school teachers, skilled education managers, and reputable education researchers. Graduates are equipped with solid professional knowledge, modern pedagogical skills, and the ability to adapt flexibly to the context of educational reforms, enabling them to take on roles at primary schools, research institutes, training centers, or educational management agencies. The research activities of the program have always been emphasized: from 2019 to 2024, the number of research projects increased from 15 to 34, the number of student researchers grew from 54 to 145, and the number of research papers with ISSN increased from 4 to 22. This demonstrates the growing influence and enhanced quality of research in primary teacher training. Additionally, students actively participate in entrepreneurial innovation competitions with many human-centered ideas, focusing on green education and the application of technology in teaching, which have been recognized by society and the community.

The curriculum of the Primary Education program is designed with a focus on competency development, harmoniously combining theoretical learning, professional skills training, and career experiences. Competitions such as the Pedagogical Skills Contest and academic clubs like the Research Club, Arts Club, and Beautiful Writing Club contribute to creating a dynamic learning environment, helping students develop both professionally and personally.
