Hanoi Metropolitan University Reports and Implements Quality Assurance Activities

On the afternoon of October 16, the Quality Assurance Council of Hanoi Metropolitan University held a meeting to summarize the results of the second institutional accreditation cycle, report on the outcomes of quality assurance (QA) activities, and outline plans for upcoming initiatives. The meeting was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Đỗ Hồng Cường – Rector of the University, with the participation of representatives from relevant departments and units.
The meeting covered several important topics, including: A report on the achievements of the University’s QA activities since the establishment of the QA Council and its network. Plans for future accreditation of the institution and academic programs according to national and international standards. Evaluation of the effectiveness of training and quality improvement activities. Commendation of collectives and individuals who made significant contributions to the University’s QA work.

According to the report, the University’s recent accreditation activities have achieved remarkable results. All 23 undergraduate programs and one master’s program have successfully completed the quality accreditation process. Notably, two undergraduate programs have been accredited under the AUN-QA (ASEAN University Network – Quality Assurance) standards. Professional training for faculty and staff has also been a priority, with over 100 participants attending training courses on accreditation procedures, test item bank development, curriculum design, and self-assessment report writing.
During the meeting, the QA Office also presented an overview of the institutional accreditation process. The implementation was carried out in accordance with regulations, with clear task assignments and consistent monitoring. The Institutional Review Council held six official meetings from October 2024 to July 2025 to track progress and ensure quality throughout the process.

Summarizing the meeting, the University’s Board of Rectors emphasized the key priorities for the coming period. Hanoi Metropolitan University will continue to strengthen its Quality Assurance system, expand partnerships, and conduct benchmarking with other higher education institutions. A particular focus will be placed on improving training programs to meet AUN-QA standards. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Đỗ Hồng Cường – Rector of the University – directed all faculties and institutes to revise their curricula in accordance with international standards and expected learning outcomes. Each academic unit is required to implement at least one quality improvement initiative in the upcoming academic year.

The University will continue expanding its cooperation and benchmarking activities with other institutions, promoting mid-cycle self-evaluation of academic programs, and enhancing quality improvement monitoring. Furthermore, stakeholder feedback surveys will be conducted more comprehensively to inform curriculum development and educational service enhancement. Hanoi Metropolitan University also plans to develop accreditation dossiers for four additional programs following AUN-QA standards, aiming to complete program accreditation according to this framework by 2030. The University will also establish and monitor quality objectives for the 2025–2026 academic year.
