Introduction to the Environmental Engineering Technology Major – Environmental Analysis Specialization
INTRODUCTION TO ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY
Specialization: Environmental Analysis
HANOI METROPOLITAN UNIVERSITY
To meet the growing demands of life, humans have exploited natural resources using various methods, many of which have significantly contributed to ecosystem destruction and environmental pollution. Moreover, the emergence and operation of numerous factories, industrial zones, and high-tech parks have released various waste products into the environment, further polluting human living conditions.
Therefore, it is essential to have the involvement of scientists, environmental engineers, and policymakers to minimize the impacts of environmental pollution. The Environmental Engineering Technology major, with a specialization in Environmental Analysis, plays a vital role in the mission to improve the environment, preserve ecosystem diversity, and enhance public health.
1. Understanding the Environmental Engineering Technology Major – Environmental Analysis Specialization
Environmental Engineering Technology – Environmental Analysis is a field of study that focuses on technologies and techniques aimed at reducing, preventing, recovering, recycling, and reusing by-products and waste to enhance economic efficiency and reduce environmental pollution. These technologies and methods are applied to treat wastewater, exhaust gases, and solid waste through physical, chemical, and biological processes.
This major emphasizes the analysis of environmental quality and proposes management solutions to protect the environment, aiming toward sustainable development and biodiversity conservation.
Currently, the demand for human resources in environmental engineering technology at agencies, organizations, and enterprises is increasing to meet the needs of managing and addressing pollution sources and other environmental issues.
2. Training Objectives
Environmental protection and ecosystem preservation are among the most critical tasks, and the curriculum of Environmental Engineering Technology focuses on these core elements. The program equips students with solid knowledge in natural sciences, specialized skills, scientific research capabilities, and the ability to proficiently use modern analytical equipment for environmental sample testing.
Graduates are able to adapt well to various jobs in the environmental engineering technology field, particularly in environmental analysis, and can work independently or in teams under changing working conditions.
Experts, scientists, and students from the Environmental Engineering Technology program at Hanoi Metropolitan University participate in scientific seminars.
3. Training Program
Full-time regular education program
Duration: Four years (equivalent to eight semesters)
Credit-based system: Total of 130 credits
4. Learning Environment
Students learn in a dynamic environment with the motto “learning goes hand in hand with practice.” Facilities include laboratories for research, and students have opportunities for site visits, fieldwork, and soft skill development. Final-year students are also encouraged to participate in scientific research projects with lecturers and scientists.
Student engagement activities and academic advising in the Environmental Engineering program.
5. Career Opportunities
After graduation, students will have opportunities to take on positions such as:
Environmental consultant for hotel chains, resorts, hospitals, green buildings, eco-residential areas, industrial zones, or corporations.
Environmental consulting specialist at environmental consulting companies or multinational environmental corporations.
Environmental design and construction engineer at environmental treatment and consulting companies or foreign corporations in environmental project design and construction.
Operation engineer at environmental treatment facilities in factories, companies, industrial parks, residential area management boards, and city- or province-level environmental treatment plants.
Environmental monitoring officer at governmental agencies (such as Departments of Environmental Protection, Departments of Natural Resources and Environment, Monitoring Centers), and private environmental consulting companies.
Researcher at institutes, universities, and research centers on environment-related topics or international organizations and environmental projects.
Environmental manager at State agencies such as: Departments of Natural Resources and Environment, District environmental offices, Departments of Science and Technology, Departments of Construction, and Departments of Planning and Architecture.
Environmental officer at companies, enterprises, and industrial parks responsible for managing environmental issues.
