Closing Ceremony of the 471st AUN-QA External Assessment at Hanoi Metropolitan University 

          After a period of intensive, serious, and effective work, on the morning of October 9, Hanoi Metropolitan University, in collaboration with the AUN-QA (ASEAN University Network – Quality Assurance) external assessment team, held the Closing Ceremony of the official external assessment for two undergraduate programs: Bachelor of English Language and Bachelor of Primary Education.

The University’s Board of Rectors, together with faculty and staff, took a commemorative photo with the AUN-QA Assessment Team.

Attending the closing ceremony, from the AUN-QA assessment team, were Prof. Dr. Kiran Kaur, Head of the delegation, along with evaluation experts and members of the AUN-QA Secretariat. Representing Hanoi Metropolitan University were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Đỗ Hồng Cường – Rector, Dr. Bùi Quốc Hoàn – Vice Rector, Dr. Nguyễn Văn Tuân – Vice Rector, as well as faculty, staff, and students of the University.

During the two official working days, the AUN-QA experts conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the two programs based on Version 4.0 of the AUN-QA Assessment Framework. The evaluation team presented the Preliminary Report on the official assessment results of Hanoi Metropolitan University. The report summarized the team’s assessment process, outlined the basis, principles, and standards applied, highlighted the programs’ strengths, and provided recommendations for further improvement in training quality. The experts also conducted interviews with multiple stakeholder groups, including lecturers, students, alumni, employers, and support staff, ensuring objectivity, transparency, and reliability throughout the evaluation process.

TOn behalf of AUN-QA, Prof. Dr. Kiran Kaur expressed sincere appreciation to Hanoi Metropolitan University for accompanying AUN in its mission of enhancing the quality of higher education in the region. She emphasized that this was not merely an evaluation process but also an opportunity for both the assessment team and the University to work together in improving and sustaining program quality across ASEAN universities. Prof. Kaur also shared new AUN-QA initiatives, such as the implementation of the Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) system as a key driver of AUN’s mission in quality enhancement; developing a digital transformation network in education; promoting technological and digital capacities for universities to ensure no one is left behind in the digital era; and strengthening English as a primary language of instruction, fostering cultural and academic connections among countries in the region. She expressed her confidence that Hanoi Metropolitan University would continue to uphold its spirit of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement, and she looked forward to further cooperation with the University in future assessment cycles

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Đỗ Hồng Cường delivered his remarks at the closing ceremony. 

Expressing his gratitude for the constructive feedback and observations from the AUN-QA team, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Đỗ Hồng Cường sincerely thanked the assessors for their dedication, objectivity, and professionalism throughout the process. He affirmed that the University would take all recommendations into careful consideration, viewing them as guiding principles for ongoing improvement. Hanoi Metropolitan University is committed to enhancing training quality, renewing teaching methods, expanding international cooperation, and developing its academic staff. In particular, the University pledged to strengthen its internal quality assurance system, establish regular monitoring mechanisms, and mobilize resources to effectively implement the recommendations from the AUN-QA assessment team – reaffirming its commitment to quality, innovation, and sustainable development in higher education.
